Clement Clarke Moore

Clement Clarke Moore1779–186319th century Clement Clarke Moore was an American scholar and professor of Oriental and Greek literature, best known as the author of the poem 'A Visit from St. Nicholas' (commonly known as 'The Night Before Christmas'). He was a wealthy landowner in New York City, where his estate, Chelsea, later became the neighborhood of the same name.
