Thornton Waldo Burgess was a beloved American conservationist and children's author who wrote over 170 books and 15,000 syndicated newspaper stories featuring the animal inhabitants of the Green Forest and Green Meadows. His 'Bedtime Story-Books' series, including 'Bowser the Hound' (1920), taught generations of children to love and respect nature.
