Lyman Frank Baum was an American author best known for writing 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' (1900), one of the most beloved children's novels ever written. Before Oz, Baum published 'Mother Goose in Prose' (1899), his first children's book, retelling classic nursery rhymes as charming prose stories illustrated by Maxfield Parrish.
