Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins, who wrote as Anthony Hope, was an English novelist. His most famous novel, The Prisoner of Zenda, set in the fictional European kingdom of Ruritania, launched an entire genre of Ruritanian romance and has been adapted for film and stage many times.
