he copyright law of the United States - Title 17, UnitedStates Code - concerns the making of photocopies orother reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries andarchives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or otherreproduction. One of these specified conditions is that thephotocopy or other reproduction is not to be "used for anypurpose other than private study, scholarship, orresearch." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, aphotocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fairuse,’ that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept acopy order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the orderwould involve violation of the copyright law.
