ylvia Plath attempted to commit suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping pillson 24 August 1953. Following therapy at McLean Hospital in Belmont,Massachusetts, she returned to Smith College in February 1954 and graduated on6 June 1955. Plath did not keep a journal during her senior year at college. From October 1955 until June 1957, Plath attended Newnham College atCambridge University where she read English on a Fulbright fellowship.
