12 lines
Phillis Wheatley·1753–1784
homas Wheatley was evidently a brother of John Wheat-leigh, whose genealogy we have traced down to Capt. JohnWheatley, the father of our branch of the family in America. In 1547 Thomas Wheatley ownedBalwoodston, Wells, Somersetshire. This estate evidently‘passed into the possession of John about 1572, and Thomasmoved to Sonning in Berkshire. He was father of nine chil-dren.
