ST LIVERPOOL we were met at pierby an able and courteous committee,a delegation of the British Ministry ofInformation, escorted to the Adelphi,said to be Great Britain’s best hotel, ifnot the best in all Europe, where a realS supper, a Turkish bath, luxuriousrooms and a comfortable bed, in a measure at least, dis-pelled the horrors of our tempestuous journey and awretched two weeks aboard the Orontes. The next day our hosts took us aboard a special carbound for London. We did not realize then, but soonfound out that our privations and hardships, so far ascourtesy, intelligent care and gracious and distinguishedattention could amend, ended when we stepped offdeck at Liverpool. Arriving in London early in the afternoon, we found atthe Savoy Hotel the Ministry of Information awaitingus with an excellent luncheon, after which we wereassl igned to the best suites in the hostelry, given the useof an immense assembly room with anterooms and lob-bies and two secretaries and a number of typists to takedictation, write letters or telegrams or do any errands a— jo —
