o the animals all met together a great many hun-dred snows ago, on an evening when the sun was set,to wait over night for the coming of The Man on themorrow. Now Kareya had commanded The Man to make asmany bows and arrows as there were animals, and togive the longest bow to the one that should have themost power, the shortest bow to the one that shouldhave the least power. So he made them, and after ninesleeps his work was ended and he had very many bowsand arrows.
