r the Saddle and Sirloin club there sat in conferenceone day a few months ago representatives from twogroups. On one side of the table were men speaking forthe most active organizations of colored people in Chi-cago in matters of employment and general welfare.On the other side of the table were men speaking for thepackers who employ at the stockyards upwards of 15,000colored men and women, interests that are to-day andare expected to be in the future the largest employers ofcolored labor. Four points to constitute a guiding policy in employ-ment were offered by the colored representatives, witha statement that the principles embodied the generalsense of the leaders of social, industrial, welfare andreligious groups of the colored race in Chicago. Afterdiscussion the representatives of the packers agreed toaccept the four points, and they are regarded by the col-ored people as in force and effective until further notice. The four points as phrased in the conference at theSaddle and Sirloin club, are:
